Poly Film/Bundling Tunnels

Texwrap’s bundling tunnels are specially designed to be used with polyethylene films. More commonly known as "shrink poly" these films shrink in a completely different way than do typical polyolefin shrink films. Olefin films shrink completely while still in the tunnel. Shrink poly, on the other hand, shrinks as it cools after it leaves the tunnel. To aid on this process, bundling tunnels are equipped with fans on the exit to speed up the cooling and insure the best shrink. Another unique thing about poly is that it generally requires higher tunnel temperatures to shrink and, as a result, becomes very soft (almost molten) in the tunnel. If standard wire mesh belts were to be used, the film would stick to the belt tearing the film from the package and fouling the belt. For that reason, Texwrap bundling tunnels are equipped with plastic mesh belts. On tunnels where the products will be very lightweight, a Teflon mesh belt is normally used. On tunnels where the products will be heavier, we change to a plastic grid belt with a positive sprocketed drive roller as shown in the far right picture below.
